RIB stands for rigid inflatable boat. They are lightweight and high performance, with rigid hull bottom joined to side-forming air tubes that are inflated with air and makes the boats uncreatable save, always. Captains and guides have a lot of experience and has finished maritime safety and emergency management for passenger boats.
Guests must be at the office (Básaskersbryggja 6), just a minute walk from the ferry, 30 minutes before the tour. We start suiting up, everybody gets a float overall and a lifejacket. It’s a very good idea to wear a hat and a mitten. The guide goes through the safety rules prior the tour. Pregnant lady’s, people with heart or back problem can not ride at the RIB boat, we recommend a boat tour on Teista instead.
Then the fun start with a blast! In the beginning many get a tickle in their stomach when riding out of the beautiful harbor area. The 1-hour tour sail out to the small islands at the west side of the inhabited island and show you all the best on the way there. In the tour we look at steep cliffs and sail between skerries. When we reach the small islands we go into a cave that only small boats can enter, the sea caves are incredibly beautiful and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to see one from the inside.

The birdlife around Westman Islands are diverse and it’s easy to enjoy watching fulmars, kitty-wakes, gannets and puffins from a rare view. The extreme lucky ones have even spotted a whale or a seal.
We visit Elephant rock in this tour and we really feel its size. Elephant rock is the most famous landmark in the Westman Islands and is in fact a creation of the nature. In the rock we can see a giant elephant bending its head and dipping its trunk into the sea. Magnificent to see it from the sea.
